Say hello to Steve McLeod, one of our Electrical Foreman’s here in Calgary! Steve wear’s many hats as a site Foreman. While maintaining strong client relationships he also manages site crews, project estimating, and material procurement. But Steve's path wasn't always about circuits and wires. He once tried plumbing, but fate led him to the electrical industry, where he thrives on always learning something new. From working on big commercial sites to homes and solar farms, the ever-changing electrical field keeps him excited.
Steve's journey has taught him vital lessons in leadership and embracing challenges. He finds immense joy in helping new talents grow and succeed, which makes sense why he relates to the Stratus value "There is no Stratus without us." Steve values his team deeply, making work a truly enjoyable place to be. With a focus on team, Steve hopes to take these ideals and join the project manager team one day, using the skills he's gained over the five amazing years here at Stratus.
Beyond work, Steve's got a whole world of interests! He loves working on cars, hitting the golf course in the sunny months, and diving into video games during winter.
Steve, we are super excited to see where the next five years take you here at Stratus. We appreciate all your hard work, and we look forward to exciting times ahead. ... See MoreSee Less
Embracing a new school year with a safety-first mindset! As our kids step back into the world of learning, our priority remains clear: health and safety, both for them and for us.
As we work hard to provide for our families, we are also committed to coming back home safely, every single day. This is one of the reasons why safety is always top of mind at Stratus, because being there for our kids is the ultimate goal.
Let's make this school year a lesson in teamwork – by keeping ourselves informed, practicing safety measures diligently, and showing our little ones how important it is to care for each other.
Stratus has collaboratively developed an Indigenous Engagement & ESG program with the input of internal team members, leaders, and external perspectives. This project was a labor of love and a “social license” for Stratus to authentically engage in business.
At Stratus, we believe in fostering strong relationships with Indigenous communities. Our new policy emphasizes collaboration, respect, and meaningful engagement. Additionally, ESG or the often-used synonym, “sustainability” can be linked to Indigenous worldviews. This contributes to Reconciliation in aiming to foster Ecological health, educational health, and economic health.
We are taking proactive steps to reduce our environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and maintain high governance standards throughout our operations. It's our responsibility to protect our planet and support the well-being of communities.
We are incredibly proud of this milestone achievement and recognize that it's only the beginning. Stratus Electrical remains dedicated to continuous improvement, actively listening, and learning from the diverse voices around us.
Join us in celebrating this important step forward towards a more sustainable and inclusive future! Together, we can make a positive difference.

No matter what, there is always time to learn. Our talented team of newcomers located at our Lethbridge branch took the time to practice and learn the fundamentals of pipe bending, including mastering box offsets, 90-degree bends, vertical offsets, and saddles under the guidance of our Project Manager Pat Martindale.
Pat also went the extra mile by reviewing prints and discussing scale measurements with our eager learners. Thanks to Pat our new Apprentices will feel more confident heading into any new or current projects.
There really is no Stratus without us, and we love seeing the teamwork no matter what your title or level is at!
Stratus is proud to support Todd Fletcher, Sukh Gill, and Reid Tofteland, who will be participating in this summer's 200 KM - Tour Alberta for Cancer Ride! This year’s event takes place in Strathmore on July 22nd and 23rd.
Each of them has their own “why” for biking this event but they all share the idea that Cancer touches us all, whether directly or indirectly. Together, we can make a difference by supporting the Alberta Cancer Foundation! Your donation to this cause goes a long way in funding crucial research for new treatments and potential cures. It also helps support programs that enhance the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.
To donate, please visit any one of the links below to read more about their “why” and support the team on their ride.
We are excited for you to meet Mike Nakatani, one of our Foreman’s who works out of our Lethbridge branch! Mike Joined Stratus in 2018 and brings a wealth of experience and a strong work ethic to our organization. After obtaining his ticket in 2013, Mike took on a Field Supervisor role in Sparwood, BC. There, he excelled in installing fire alarm and fire suppression systems for heavy equipment while overseeing workflow and day-to-day operations at the Sparwood branch.
In his current role at Stratus, Mike appreciates the fact that he continues to spend majority of his time in the field. As someone who gets stir-crazy when confined to an office for extended periods, Mike finds great satisfaction in being actively involved in the hands-on aspects of his work. By remaining out in the field, Mike can fully immerse himself in the practical aspects of his role, overseeing operations, coordinating workflows, and ensuring that projects progress smoothly. This active engagement with the work allows him to make a tangible impact and contribute to the success of each endeavor.
Among the Stratus values, Mike resonates most strongly with the belief that "There is no Stratus without us." Having worked for various companies in the past, where employees input was often disregarded, Mike appreciates the inclusive and supportive environment at Stratus. Over the five years he has been with us, Mike continues to feel the appreciation and support like it was his first day, reaffirming the importance of recognizing and valuing each team member's contributions.
When he’s not working, you can find Mike with his kids at Taekwon-Do training or out on the golf course yelling a swear or two lol. His enthusiasm and dedication are evident in his work, and we are fortunate to have him as part of our team!
